Can Oklahoma’s Defense Slow Down Georgia? Saturday’s SEC Free Play

Georgia has been scoring at a remarkable pace, averaging 59.3 points through its first three games. That makes a low total in this matchup look surprising. But Oklahoma’s defense presents a much tougher test: the Sooners have allowed just 7.7 points and 215.3 yards per game.

Oklahoma’s offense is the other reason I’m looking at the Under. The Sooners scored 10 points in a loss at Michigan and 14 in a win over New Mexico. Their defense kept them in both games, holding New Mexico to 185 total yards and two field goals last week. That combination gives us a path to a lower-scoring game, even if Georgia controls it.

There is a real risk here: Georgia scored 45 against Arkansas last Saturday and has the ability to push this total by itself. Oklahoma needs to limit explosive plays and force Georgia to earn its points through sustained drives. I’m backing the Sooners’ defense to make this a more demanding game than Georgia’s early scoring average suggests.
