For today’s late NFL preseason matchup, I’m attacking the Carolina Panthers vs. Jacksonville Jaguars UNDER 36.5 total points.

Preseason football is always about understanding rotations, quarterback depth, conservative play-calling, and which teams are truly interested in pushing the pace. In this matchup, I’m expecting more of a defensive, field-position battle than an offensive shootout.

Once the starters and higher-level offensive players begin coming off the field, we should see longer drives, fewer explosive plays, and more possessions ending in punts or field-goal attempts. With a total sitting at 36.5, we have some room for both teams to put points on the board without needing a completely scoreless game.

The biggest key is avoiding cheap points from turnovers and special teams. If Carolina and Jacksonville protect the football and force each other to consistently drive the length of the field, I believe scoring opportunities will be limited. Preseason offenses can become extremely inconsistent as the depth chart gets deeper, and that’s exactly the type of game script we want.
