I’m riding the Over 10.5 in Nationals vs. Cubs, and here’s why, we’ve got Jake Irvin on the hill for Washington with a 5.42 ERA and a bloated 1.41 WHIP, a guy who consistently allows baserunners and struggles to escape clean innings, going up against Chicago’s Javier Assad who carries a serviceable 4.05 ERA but still gets hit hard with opponents batting nearly .290 against him, neither starter screams shutdown stuff. The Cubs lineup has plenty of pop with Crow-Armstrong leading the way in homers, Suzuki driving in runs, and Hoerner batting close to .290, and they average over 4 runs a game at home. Washington’s offense isn’t elite but has cashed overs in more than half their games this season, and facing Assad gives them a shot to scratch across runs early. Add in Wrigley’s tendency to produce crooked numbers when the conditions are right, bullpens that can’t always be trusted late, and the fact this total is hanging at an even price for a reason, and everything points to runs stacking up quick. Two hittable arms, bats on both sides with momentum, and a ballpark that loves chaos, give me the Over 10.5 in this spot.
Cubs vs Nationals over 10.5 runs
