New England is favored for good reason, as the Patriots have historically had the upper hand in this series and own the home-field scoring edge, averaging over 23 points per game in past meetings compared to just under 17 for Carolina. The Patriots’ defense should improve with Christian Gonzalez back to help lock down the Panthers’ passing game, forcing Bryce Young to rely more on scrambling, which New England’s disciplined front is built to contain. Carolina’s offense could also be limited if Chuba Hubbard remains sidelined, taking away their balance and leaving Young in predictable passing situations. Meanwhile, the Panthers’ defense has struggled against balanced attacks, and with New England likely to control time of possession and field position after correcting last week’s turnover woes, the stats line up with the Patriots pulling away late.
