The Texans enter Week 2 as 2.5 point favorites over the Buccaneers and the matchup looks like it will come down to protection and consistency. Tampa Bay is banged up offensively, star tackle Tristan Wirfs and wideout Chris Godwin are both sidelined, while Luke Goedeke is questionable, leaving Baker Mayfield behind a shaky O-line with limited weapons. That’s a huge problem against Houston’s front seven, led by Will Anderson Jr., who can wreck a game if he’s consistently getting pressure. While C.J. Stroud and the Texans’ offense sputtered in Week 1, the matchup here gives them a cleaner path: they won’t need to light up the scoreboard, just take care of the football and lean on their defense. Tampa’s defense is still tough, but the injuries on offense make it hard to trust them to keep pace. With Houston healthier, stronger in the trenches, and facing a depleted Bucs roster, the edge leans to the home team. Pick: Texans -2.5, in a close one.
