Cordero vs DJU! The better QB plays for San Jose St.

There are many question marks on this Oregon St team. Oregon St could win by 30 if everything that they did this offseason works out. My money is on that on being the case. They have massive turnaround on the defensive end, losing their best pieces from a year ago (particularly in the secondary). This San Jose St team was the 7th most pass-heavy team in the country last year. If Oregon St is unable to replace the secondary (which was one of the best in the country a year ago), San Jose St will be able to move the ball up & down the field similar to vs USC.

On the offensive end, DJU will be making his first start for Oregon St. After multiple years of underperforming at Clemson, he is going back to the west coast. I am not a fan of DJU. For years, he showed a lack of confidence in the pocket and an inability to throw the ball into tight windows. He continuously checked down and avoided putting any pressure on the defense. Personally, I think he is horrible, but in a new situation... He could improve. He is going against a San Jose St team that is weaker in the secondary. USC was able to move the ball at will, but they are arguably the best offense in the country. USC was not successful running the ball though, which is exactly what Oregon St wants to do. Last year, Oregon St ranked 112 in the country in pass rate. They prefer to run the ball which is the strength of the San Jose St defense.

With a ton of question marks, this line should not be more than 2 touchdowns. San Jose has the Player of the Year in the WAC at QB, and have a decent defense that matches up vs what Oregon St wants to do. If DJU plays the way he did at Clemson, San Jose wins this game outright.
