76ers -5.5 @ Wizards💰 Pick: 76ers –5.5 (–110)🧩 Why: Philadelphia enters 3-0 and looks every bit like an early-season wagon. Tyrese Maxey is flat-out torching teams right now, averaging 34.0 PPG, 6.3 APG, and shooting a ridiculous 58% from the field and 52% from deep. Even with Embiid sitting last night for knee management, the Sixers dropped 136 points on Orlando, led by Maxey’s 43-piece. The offense ranks top 5 in offensive efficiency (122 points per 100 possessions) and top 3 in true-shooting %, and they’re pushing tempo in spurts without sacrificing half-court precision.
Washington, on the other hand, continues to leak on both ends. They’re 1-2, but the defense looks every bit like the same bottom-five unit from last year: allowing 121.8 PPG, 49% opponent FG, and giving up 15+ threes per game. They’re also without Bilal Coulibaly (thumb surgery), one of their only perimeter defenders who could’ve slowed Maxey. Jordan Poole is scoring (≈18 PPG) but shooting just 38%, and the Wizards rank 27th in defensive rating and 25th in rebound percentage, a huge issue against a Philly team that’s quietly top 10 on the glass.
Even on the second night of a back-to-back, Philly’s bench rotation (Oubre, Melton, Reed) has been solid enough to maintain scoring runs while the starters rest. The Sixers are averaging 41 bench points per game so far and have covered five straight vs. Washington, all by 7+ points.
